Foreign Office says an Indian diplomat will also be present during the meeting

Kulbhushan Jadhav, the Indian national sentenced to death in Pakistan, will be allowed to meet his wife and mother on December 25. The International Court of Justice in May had halted his execution on Indias appeal.

After two weeks, Pakistan accepted most of India's requests, giving the date of the meeting as December 25.

"We had also asked that a diplomatic officer of Indian High Commission should accompany them while they are in Pakistan".

Jadhav has been in a Pakistani prison since March 2016 after security forces there arrested him on charges of spying. Swaraj said Pakistan had earlier agreed to give a visa only to Jadhav's wife but India requested for a visa for his mother too.

"We all are very happy with the news that Pakistan will give visas to Kulbhushan's mother and wife", Tulshidas Pawar, a childhood friend of Jadhav said from Mumbai.

Earlier, Pakistan had been repeatedly denied consular access to the Indian prisoner on grounds not applicable to cases pertaining to espionage. However, India maintains that Jadhav was kidnapped from Iran where he had business interests after retiring from the Indian Navy. Pakistan has proposed that the meeting take place on December 25 but the Indian government is expected take a final decision on the date after consultations with Mr Jadhav's mother and wife.

Pakistan claims its security forces arrested him from restive Balochistan province on 3 March a year ago after he reportedly entered from Iran.
