Fired former national security advisor Mike Flynn exalted that a nuclear deal involving Russian Federation was "good to go" just minutes after President Trump took the oath of office, House Oversight panel Democrats said based on a whistleblower's claims.

The allegation has been made public by Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee - who is demanding that his Republican counterpart on the committee investigate Flynn and others involved in the matter more aggressively.

In June, Newsweek revealed that while he was an adviser to Trump, Flynn had done work for a consortium led by Copson and former senior US military officials to build nuclear power plants in the Middle East in a partnership with a Russian state-owned energy contractor.

In the letter to Rep. Trey Gowdy, the panel's GOP chairman, Cummings demanded that Gowdy subpoena documents on the nuclear power plan from the White House, Flynn, Copson, their partners and associates, Reuters reported.

Mr Cummings wrote that he delayed releasing the letter at the request of Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller until his team had "completed certain investigative steps". According to a photo of the moment that the Democrats dug up, Flynn was standing only a few rows behind Trump and peering into his phone as the president spoke.

Cummings also said the whistleblower quoted a business associate of Flynn as saying the economic sanctions against Russian Federation imposed by former President Barack Obama would be "ripped up" as Flynn's first order of business as Trump's national security adviser.

As the whistleblower chatted with Flynn's associate during an Inauguration Day celebration on January 20, Flynn sent texts saying the associate's nuclear proposal was "good to go", the whistleblower said.

With the clearance of Mueller's office, Cummings writes that he's now making the whistleblower's story public.

In their letter, the Democrats accused Flynn, who was forced to resign in February over his contacts with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak, of violating federal law by failing to disclose a trip he took to the Middle East in June 2015 on behalf of the lead company in the nuclear energy project, as well as his contacts with foreign officials.

Reached Wednesday, Flynn's attorney declined to comment. The investigators are searching for further evidence that Flynn lobbied from his government job as National Security Advisor for associates who had retained his consulting firm before the election. "This is going to make for a lot of very wealthy people", Cummings's letter quotes him as saying.

Cummings added: "They have now informed us that they have done so".

It also raised fresh questions on what Trump knew about Flynn's business plans when he appointed the retired three- star general to serve as his national security advisor.

Flynn's lawyer did not respond to a request for comment on the latest claims.

Cummings did not identify the whistleblower. The whistleblower isn't named, but Cummings promised in the letter to share the person's identity with Gowdy if it remains confidential and Gowdy agrees to speak with the whistleblower.
