Scott Frost hired as Nebraska's new head football coach

According to insider Brett McMurphy, the Cornhuskers agreed to a seven-year, $35 million deal with Frost, who just led Central Florida to a 62-55 win over Memphis in double-overtime in the AAC Championship game. The former OR offensive coordinator initially signed on with UCF in the winter of 2015.

Frost and the Knights are 11-0 and remain one of only two unbeaten FBS schools at this point in the season. In his inaugural season with the team previous year, his squad went 6-6 in the regular season before falling to Arkansas State in the Cure Bowl.

The 42-year-old Frost, who will be introduced at a Sunday news conference, takes over for Mike Riley, who was sacked last Saturday.

The new Husker coach also played six seasons in the National Football League for four different teams.

Not only did Frost bring the Knights, now ranked No. 14 in the latest College Football Playoff poll, back to national relevance, he also turned them into arguably the most dynamic offense in the country.

In addition to head coaching, Frost spent time at OR as wide receivers coach from 2009-13 before being promoted to offensive coordinator from 2013-15. Nebraska finished 4-8 this season, the team's worst record in nearly 60 years.
