Mother of Dead Richardson Toddler Arrested for Child Endangerment

Sini Mathews, the mother of a 3-year-old girl adopted from India who was found dead in a storm drain last month in a Texas suburb was arrested Thursday on a warrant charging child abandonment or endangerment. Sini Mathews herself turned in Richardson police station after which the arrest was recorded. Police discovered her body in a culvert on October 22.

Sherin Mathews was originally reported missing after her father said he left her outside by a tree in the middle of the night after she refused to drink her milk. Wesley Mathews - who confessed that he watched Sherin choke on her milk around 3 a.m. October 7 morning and then disposed of her dead body outside the home - has been charged with felony child endangerment and faces a life sentence.

Investigating detectives have determined Sini Mathews left 3-year-old Sherin Mathews alone while she and Wesley Mathews went to dinner with their biological daughter, the night of Friday, Oct. 6. Receipts obtained by police show the couple ordered only one child's meal and two adult meals.

Richardson police said the case is still very active and additional charges against Sini and Welsey Mathews are possible.

Rotten Tomatoes Reveals Official JUSTICE LEAGUE Score
And bottom line: Justice League is seriously ho-hum, offering negligible thrills and some screamingly ridiculous plot twists. The DCEU has had a hard go of it so far with Wonder Woman (92 percent) being the only slam dunk of the bunch.

Sini Mathews' attorney has maintained throughout the investigation she had nothing to do with her daughter's death and that she was distraught during her daughter's disappearance.

Her bond was set at $250,000. He's a Dallas native and a graduate of the University of North Texas.

The charges come three days after Sini appeared in court for custody of her biological 4-year-old daughter, who has been in foster care for the past four weeks.

On October 7, Wesley Mathews reported Sherin missing. Her husband remains in jail and is being held on a $1 million bond.

Sherin's death prompted External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to ask the Indian Embassy in the U.S. to be actively involved in the case and keep her informed. He said when he could no longer feel Sherin's pulse he "believed she had died" and removed the body from the house.

When they returned more than an hour later, Sherin Mathews was still in the kitchen, the affidavit stated.

Sini Mathews was in court as recently as Monday asking for custody of the couple's child to be returned to her, but that hearing was rescheduled 1 p.m. November 29. The child was expected to be placed in the care of family in the Houston area following Monday's hearing.
