Florida State suspends all of Greek Life in wake of student death

Police are investigating the death of a Florida State University fraternity pledge at a chapter party.

According to reports, 20-year-old Andrew Coffey was found unresponsive early Friday morning after a fraternity party about a mile away from campus.

"Although there are indicators that alcohol may have been a factor in this case, we are waiting for the results of an autopsy so no cause of death has been determined", said Police Chief Michael DeLeo. Marcy is a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

"For this suspension to end, there will need to be a new normal for Greek life at the university", Thrasher said at a news conference. Thrasher said Greek life will not participate in homecoming this year and that fraternity and sorority chapters will be prevented from holding new member events, council and chapter meetings, chapter organized tailgates, social and philanthropic events, retreats, and intramurals. "To ensure the future of fraternity and sorority life, innovative practices will need to redefine our Greek community so that it positively contributes to the full well-being of students", she said. The university will allow students who live in fraternity and sorority houses to remain there.

"Unfortunately, we have got to take steps in a serious manner with our partners and stakeholders and students to make sure it doesn't happen again", Thrasher said. Additionally, alcohol is banned at all student organization events. FSU student Alex Aull said he was shocked when he heard about the ban.

"I've communicated with those kinds of groups and let them know that I have zero tolerance for those kinds of activities and that we will bring the hammer down on them if they act inappropriately in those areas", Thrasher told the paper.

Jose Mourinho 'to demand Manchester United backing following PSG approach'
Mourinho is keen for greater investment as he looks to catch Manchester City and make an impression on the Champions League. But it now appears both players are close to returning to action with Mourinho describing their positions as good.

"For me and a lot of the people who are entering, we're all pretty upset because we are trying to get the reputation back up", says Lila Pullo, a freshman who was supposed to be initiated into the Delta Gamma sorority.

"Unfortunately, there has been a rash of instances similar to this, so I can understand the reason for the response", Armstrong said. FSU has more than 700 such organizations outside of the Greek community.

Armstrong said there's more to fraternity life than just drinking and partying.

For the initial training, the sheep received a food reward for choosing the face versus a blank screen. If you ever find yourself in the company of sheep, don't be surprised if they seem to recognize you.
