Would you like to see Disney buy 21st Century Fox?

It's said talks have been going on for the past few weeks; however, it is reported the two sides are not now talking at this very moment.

The advantage to Fox would be a tighter focus that they feel could compete better in the current marketplace, but it's what Disney would gain that is most interesting.

Notably, Disney couldn't buy Fox's core TV resources even if it wanted to. Disney would also not purchase Fox's local broadcasting affiliates, according to people familiar with the negotiations.

Broadcom offers $103 billion for Qualcomm in chip megadeal
Broadcom has been trying to get regulatory approval for its purchase of Brocade Communications Systems Inc since 2016. Broadcom has announced a proposal to buy Qualcomm for $70 an outstanding share which amounts to over $103 billion.

"In addition to the movie studio, TV production and worldwide assets such as Star and BSkyB, Disney would also add entertainment networks such as FX and Nat Geo". Other media companies also could be interested in Fox's assets, Wieser said.

21st Century FOX is in talks to sell parts of its company to Disney, in a deal that could see movie rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four return to Marvel. Disney already owns ABC and ESPN, and believes incorporating Fox's sports coverage would encompass a monopoly and make them a target of an anti-trust case.

The talks have taken place over the last few weeks and there is no certainty they will lead to a deal.

It's important to note that should a deal go through, Disney wouldn't be acquiring all of Fox, or at least not based on what the sources have described.

Rockford, Illinois Police Officer Found Dead After Traffic Stop Shooting
He served in the United States National Guard and was a graduate of Hononegah High School and Northern Illinois University. In a morning news briefing, Rockford Police Chief Dan O'Shea says the incident occurred shortly after 1 a.m.

Another interpretation is that Fox figures they'll get the best price for these other assets, and/or that concerns about the future of sports rights make it too hard to sell those assets.

Representatives of Disney and Fox had no comment.

According to the reports, Fox would give up its movie studio, 20th Century Fox, and TV production assets including the National Geographic and FX cable channels.

Disney announced earlier this year that it would launch its own direct-to-consumer streaming services next year, putting the company head-to-head with Netflix.
