The Washington Nationals have found their next manager in Chicago Cubs bench coach Dave Martinez according to a report by Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.

Martinez has served as Joe Maddon's bench coach in Chicago and Tampa Bay (2008-14) for a decade but has never been a manager. Ex-Red Sox manager John Farrell also interviewed.

The 53-year-old Martinez doesn't have any managerial experience, and therefore represents a stark departure from Baker, who was the winningest active manager when his Nationals' tenure ended.

Trump declares public health emergency in response to national opioid epidemic
This decision led to quick criticism that without new funding, what Trump had done amounted to little more than a gesture. The President used his brother Fred's struggles with alcohol as the reason why he stayed away from drinking and smoking.

That hard-nosed policy came back to haunt the Nationals two years ago when they initially selected Bud Black as their manager but saw negotiations break down and the veteran skipper walk away.

In a conference call earlier in October, Nationals General Manager Mike Rizzo called Baker "a Hall of Fame-type manager", but said that the expectations of the team had grown along with their success. The two were together with the Cubs for the past three seasons, including that team's 2016 World Series championship.

An apprenticeship under Joe Maddon is a legitimate strength on a managerial resumé, and there's no particular reason this won't work.

What is MLB Going to do About Yulieski Gurriel?
I would also like to apologise to the Dodgers organisation, the Astros , Major League Baseball and to all fans across the game". Then in the dugout after the home run, Gurriel stretched his eyes in a mocking manner and called Darvish a slur.

Davey Martinez will take Dusty Baker's spot for the Nationals.

Martinez has agreed to a three-year deal with an option, the source told ESPN, confirming a report by The Washington Post. The Astros and Dodgers - both of whom have young managers similar to Martinez - play Game 5 of the World Series Sunday before an off-day Monday. Following the 2014 season, he interviewed to be Washington's skipper, but the job ultimately went to first-time manager Matt Williams.

Jaguars trade for Buffalo DT Marcell Dareus
They also shed the 2019 through 2021 years of Dareus' deal at cap numbers of $16.985 million, $16 million and $14.65 million. The big thing that was standing in the way between the Bills and a potential trade was Dareus' monstrous contract.
