Mexican-America singer Selena Quintanilla is featured on Google's home page on Tuesday, marking the 28th anniversary of the release of her self-titled album "Selena".

Selena Quintanilla death occurred in 1995 when she was fatally shot by a person who was the president of her fan club.

Internet search engine giant Google pays tribute to late Selena with a special animated doodle to celebrate her contribution to music, entertainment and fashion industries.

She also inspired millions of people who share her Mexican-American background, including Perla Campos, Google's doodle marketing lead. Selena was only 15 when she won female entertainer of the year at the Tejano Music Awards.

Campos joined the Google Doodle team full-time two years ago, and soon began working on an illustration that did Selena justice. Later in her career, Quintanilla would perform in front of jammed crowds. More than 20 years later, she's become an icon for the Latino community, and for many others as well.

Campos was raised in a small Texas town, similar to Selena who was born in Lake Jackson, Texas and spent part of her youth there and in Corpus Christi, Texas. "I was raised knowing that one day, she'll be resurrected and we'll see her again".
