Police arrest Panthers fan caught on video brutally attacking another fan

NFL Investigating Horrific Panthers Fan Assault

Maraghy has been charged with simple assault and will appear in court on Monday.

After being released from Mecklenburg County jail on Friday night, Maraghy did not comment when asked about the incident by Stephanie Tinoco of WSOC9.

The Carolina Panthers fan who was caught on video punching an old man during Thursday night's game has been arrested.

According to the caption in the original Instagram post, which includes objectionable language, the two men had been arguing throughout the game because the man in the Newton jersey and the woman with them refused to sit down.

Early Friday morning, Warren Carrigan posted footage of the bloodied encounter on his Facebook and Instagram pages.

The video shows Maraghy eventually turning around and punching the man sitting behind him in the face.

After the video started circulating on social media, the Panthers said they were working with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police to investigate the incident.

"The behavior exhibited by the perpetrator is unacceptable and will not be condoned at Bank of America Stadium", Emory said.

The incident happened after the 62-year-old victim told the Panthers fans standing in front of them that they were "being jerks" for not sitting.

The fans has been identified by the team as the Panthers and the National Football League continue to investigate the incident.

Instead, the Panthers fan berated him with insults - and ultimately punched the other fan in the face, instantly opening a nasty gash that began to gush blood. The assailant was seated in section 541, row 24, seat 10.

Channel 9 looked into Maraghy's past and found he was charged with assault in 2013 but those charges were dropped.
