Toddler reunited with family after being left at West Jordan corn maze overnight

Mother who abandoned 3-year-old overnight in a cornfield says she she didn't notice he was missing until the next day

"We were trying to calm him down".

The boy was found by a good Samaritan who took him to the maze staff.

One of the corn maze owners, Kendall Schmidt, said they did everything they could, including going vehicle to auto. The woman contacted authorities, and when the boy could not be identified, he spent the night with child protective services.

West Jordan Police Sgt. Joe Monson said authorities received a call from the mother about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, anxious she had left her son in the maze overnight. She called police Tuesday morning to report her son was missing and was informed her child was with DCFS.

Monson says she later arrived at the police station with about 10 children.

Employees told police they found the boy by himself and that no one had come forward to claim him by the time the maze closed.

Police have issued no citations, noting the incident had been turned over the DFS for investigation and it is unclear rather or not they have released the child back into parental custody.
