Security agencies have identified the Jaish-e-Mohammed group commander who planned the attack on a Border Security Force (BSF) camp in Srinagar this week, Home Ministry sources said on Wednesday.

Three others security personnel also sustained injuries in the early morning attack, claimed by the Pakistan-based outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) which is blamed for similar strikes at Indian security bases including one at Uri in September a year ago that killed 18 soldiers. Jaish-e-Muhammad has claimed responsibility for the attack, reports said.

"It could have ended quickly using aerial weapons, but due to the presence of civilians it was avoided", Inspector General of Police Kashmir Munir Ahmed Khan told reporters during a presser adding that the attack was conducted by JeM militants.

ACOUSTIC ATTACKS: Washington expels 15 Cuban diplomats
Bruno Rodriguez says at a press conference in Havana that his government fulfills all its obligations toward foreign envoys. Tillerson said the U.S.is maintaining diplomatic relations and will cooperate with Cuba while the investigation continues.

He also lamented the "increasing misadventures from across the border" and said the people were fast losing faith in the ability of the governments to protect them.

This can be because of the huge damage inflicted on militant groups after security forces launched the much-publicised Operation All-Out in April, police sources said. After this, the two remaining terrorists moved in different directions and took shelter in different buildings before being killed by security forces.
