The Cowboys will be looking up to James Washington and Marcell Ateman for their unparalleled catching skills. His best work was on the ground, though, completely fooling the Texas Tech defense on two different occasions, which allowed him to walk into the end zone for a touchdown.

Texas Tech used up the rest of the time in the half, and after getting to the Cowboys' one-yard line, settled for a 24-yard field goal from Michael Barden as the half expired to make it 21-17 OSU at halftime.

Mason Rudolph kept No. 15 Oklahoma State from having to worry about another go-ahead field goal try from shaky kicker Matt Ammendola.

With Oklahoma State driving in the first quarter, Texas Tech continued to be the ball hawking team Red Raiders defensive coordinator David Gibbs has been wanting since he came to Lubbock.

Saints at Dolphins: Highlights, score and recap
The Dolphins , meanwhile, did not take an offensive snap beyond their 40-yard line the second half until the final minutes. Less than four months later, the Saints returned to the same stadium and defeated Indianapolis 31-17 in Super Bowl XLIV.

Oklahoma State's narrow 41-34 win over unranked Texas Tech did not impress the voters in this week's polls.

But considering that the Cowboys not only had Rudolph but stud playmakers in wide receiver James Washington (9 catches, 127 yards, TD) and running back Justice Hill (164 yards on 30 carries), this game could have very easily been one-sided in favor of the Cowboys. Shimonek (330 passing yards, one touchdown, one interception) needs a little help, but it appears Texas Tech will be a tough out for most of the league. Senior wide receiver Cameron Batson finished the game with six receptions for 84 yards, and senior wide receiver Dylan Cantrell finished the game with six receptions for 67 yards and one touchdown.

Oklahoma State drove the length of the field but was forced to settle for a field goal attempt after Rudolph was stuffed on third and goal from inside the five-yard line. In that drive, Shimonek threw an interception that was caught by redshirt junior Jordan Brailford. Both combined for catching 12 passes for 253 yards for the Cowboys in the game against TCU.

But, seven plays in the first quarter Oklahoma State was able to make it in the end zone bringing the score to 7-0 with around 11 minutes left. Then, Tech recovered an onside kick on Oklahoma State's 35-yard line. Where the Red Raiders excel is in turnover margin, where they rank second nationally.

With the offseason additions, added experience and more depth, the Red Raiders are improved on that side of the ball.

"We lost. It doesn't feel good at all", Shimonek said. "We're here to win football games".

The Red Raiders will wonder what could have been and now it will interesting to see how they bounce back from the loss with a road trip to Kansas on Saturday.
