A La Verne police officer was injured and a suspect was shot and wounded during an altercation early Saturday, authorities said.
The incident started around 4:13 a.m. Sunday when New Castle police received a report of a man breaking into cars near K Avenue and Columbus Street.
The officer then returned fire, striking Burke. The two then fall to the ground and the officer can be heard shouting, "let go of my gun", though he appears to be in full control of the weapon.
