The Centre today apprised the Supreme Court that it would be filing during the day its response to a PIL challenging deportation of Rohingya Muslims to Myanmar. It further said that it is completely within the executive policy how to deal with illegal immigrants such as Rohingya Muslims.

Hitting out at human rights groups' criticism towards the Centre's stand on the issue, he said: "I request worldwide human rights' bodies to not spread misinformation about India and the Indian govt; protecting the nation is our duty".

The Centre said it had found that "many of the Rohingya figure in suspected sinister designs of ISI/IS and other extremist groups who want to achieve their ulterior motives in India, including that of flaring up communal and sectarian violence in sensitive areas".

Terming the ongoing Rohingyas issue as a major challenge from across the border in Myanmar, the BJP leader said the government is handling infiltration and illegal migration with "utmost maturity".

According to Ashin Ven Pandita, who is now studying Buddhism in Sri Lanka, posted on his facabook on September 14, that about 30 people who identified themselves as Rohingyas arrived with Myanmar passports and that was why arrival visa was suspended temporarily. "India is a country with a large population, surplus labour force, and has its complex social/cultural/economical infrastructure". It also added that Rohingyas stay would violate the fundamental rights of Indians.

# It was also mentioned that "radicalised" Rohingays may carry out violent acts against Indian Buddhists, since the group claims to be persecuted by Buddhists in Myanmar. "The British Government believes we must show our concern, and that's why we are going to stop all defence engagement and training of the Burmese military by the Ministry of Defence until this issue is satisfactorily resolved".
