Dems call for Obama Care hearings in the House

A small group of Republican senators will make a last-ditch effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act before a deadline expires at the end of this month. Sens. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and Dean Heller (R-Nev.) - and former Sen. That would benefit the health care efforts of those states, like SC, that declined the temporary inducement of 100 percent federal funding for Medicaid expansion, recognizing the financial burden down the road. "Most of the discussion about flexibility has centered on amending the section 1332 state innovation waiver, because it is already in the Affordable Care Act, including commonsense suggestions to improve and speed up the process to make the 1332 waivers easier for states to use".

"If you want a single payer health care system, this is your worst nightmare", says Graham.

The bill would eliminate funding that allows some of the country's most vulnerable populations to be covered, including Medicaid expansions. While Congress could pass language defunding Planned Parenthood in the next fiscal year's tax-reform reconciliation bill, the Graham-Cassidy plan is the only realistic way to stop Obamacare's funding of elective abortion.

Strengthens the ability for states to waive Obamacare regulations.

Separately, independent Senator Bernie Sanders, a 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, was pushing a plan to widen the Medicare health insurance program for seniors, to include everyone. "Rather than continue with an effort to repeal and replace the ACA, ACP urges you to set aside this legislation and instead, focus on bipartisan efforts to stabilize the health insurance marketplaces, create competition among insurers, and lower the costs of health care for all Americans", Dr. Ende concluded.

USA senators unveiled two opposing visions of a healthcare system in the United States on Wednesday - leading liberals advocating government insurance for all and several Republicans proposing an eleventh-hour repeal of Obamacare to replace it with programs run by the states.

Many states would get more money under the bill than they do now.

Heller, who is facing a tough reelection race next year, defended his support for the bill, arguing that, at least in Nevada, funding would increase, not decrease.

Sen. Lamar Alexander, chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, is addressing CSRs and other market stabilizers during four hearings being held with insurance commissioners, governors and stakeholders, including Kaiser Permanente CEO Bernie Tyson. Moreover, one of the GOP senators who wound up supporting skinny repeal, Rand Paul, has announced opposition to Graham-Cassidy. That does not leave a lot of time, but Turner said she believes it is possible. It takes us off the path to single payer health care - which would be a disaster - and puts us on a path toward local control.

"What does matter is if a governor gets on board", he said.
