Be sure to periodically review the credit report, and always review it again before making an application for credit on a big purchase.Rutledge reminds Arkansans that the Attorney General's office has routinely referred individuals to one of three national credit bureaus, including Equifax, when they have fallen victim to identity theft. Now, researchers have discovered that the personal information of thousands of Argentinians may be at risk too due to lax Equifax security practices.

The Equifax breach has millions of consumers anxious about their personal information being in the hands of criminals.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) warns consumers of an Equifax phone scam after the recent data breach.

He's young, he's eager and he's hungry. "We can not talk about a dependency, but I always want him to be with us". Cristiano does more than score goals. "He is a leader and always wants to win".

Equifax has blamed last week's data breach on an Apache Struts vulnerability. In addition, credit card numbers for approximately 209,000 USA consumers, and certain credit dispute documents with personal identifying information for approximately 182,000 US consumers, were accessed. "We know that criminals exploited a USA website application vulnerability", it added. Equifax also hasn't shared any evidence to support this finding. "It is easy to Monday-morning quarterback and say, 'Why didn't you patch?' The pragmatic reality for many organizations is that patching doesn't occur as quickly as one would like". Those pages contained more than 14,000 unencrypted personal records, including DNIs - Argentina's version of Social Security numbers.

Equifax representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the FTC probe.

Equifax says the information accessed in this breach includes names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses and, in some instances, driver's license numbers.

The credit monitoring company's call centre staff said that Canadians who have Equifax accounts in the USA could be at risk of having their data compromised, such as those who have lived, worked or applied for credit south of the border. Any number pressed on the keypad can lead to more robocalls. It is important to note that a consumer does not need to have used Equifax for their data to be exposed to these hackers.

Maura Healey, the attorney general of MA, said this week she intends to file the first state lawsuit against Equifax over the breach. Since the company is holding off the details of its investigation, security experts believe that the attack possibly happened after the patch was made available since it was then widely distributed and publicized.
