Dartmouth hospital locked down after report of shooting

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon is now locked down following reports of an active shooter in the hospital.

She says the center helped identify the suspect as a Rhode Island resident.

The hospital is locked down and local and state police are on site.

There are some reports on Twitter that one person has been shot.

Reports from the area indicate that heavily armed police are on scene outside the hospital.

Police were looking into a reported shooting at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock hospital in Lebanon on Tuesday afternoon.

The name of the suspect wasn't immediately released by officials.

"Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon is now locked down following reports of an active shooter in the hospital", media relations manager Mike Barwell said in a statement.

Employees told WMUR that they had been evacuated or moved into a bank for safety. The local police also responded in mass. The hospital urged those who could safely flee to do so and those who could not to shelter in place.

The hospital issued a "code silver" alert to employees, which alerts the possibility of somebody being violent with a weapon. DCMS followed up with a report that police were sweeping the campus, with more info to come.
