The Astros will host a three-game series against the Texas Rangers at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, because of flooding in Houston caused by Hurricane Harvey.

The Astros were scheduled to play the Rangers in a three-game series Tuesday-Thursday at Minute Maid Park, and asked their fellow in-state Major League Baseball team if they could swap series.

"The safety of our fans, players and staff remain our main priority", Astros President Reid Ryan said. We'll make a decision on this weekend's series vs. the Mets in the upcoming days as we continue to monitor the conditions.

"For all parties involved, heavy hearts for what's going on back at home, and for these guys, a little bit of the unknown with some of their families", Banister said. The Rays, who this week are in Kansas City and Chicago as they conclude a three-city Midwest trip, don't play their next home game until September 4.

Rather than giving the Rangers home-field advantage for both series, the Astros opted to be the home team at Tropicana Field in Florida this week. "They wanted all six games at their park", according to Business Insider.

However, Rangers general manager Jon Daniels defended the decision. The Astros and Rangers have one final series scheduled next month in Arlington, so the Astros requested to simply trade the home sites of the two series. He said the team can not consider returning home until the rain in Houston stops. Tacking on three additional road games at the end of a lengthy road trip against the AL's best team could have a serious impact on the Rangers' playoff chances. The Astros announced all ticket, concessions and parking revenue from the series would go to hurricane relief.

With the city of Houston experiencing this tragedy, the Tampa Bay Rays have opened their doors to the Astros and Rangers to play on their field.

The game was originally scheduled for NRG Stadium, which is not damaged as yet, but there is severe flooding nearby. "{The game] was just a good opportunity to come out and support both teams, and support Houston", he added.

The three-game set would have been presented in a "neutral" fashion, the Rangers said.
