CeX has broken our run of good fortune, revealing in an email sent out late last night that almost two million customers had had their data leaked in a hack attack.

United Kingdom pre-owned media chain CEX, known both for its role in the United Kingdom second-hand market and the fact its name is pronounced "sex", has apparently fallen victim to a large scale online data security data breach.
It is working with authorities, including the police, to investigate, it says. The store also sells smartphones and PCs.

Personal data stolen by hackers include customer names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers and some credit card information.
According to a statement released by Cex, the information stolen appears to relate exclusively to the online store, with in-store data not appearing to be compromised.
In an email to those it believed may have been affected, CEX managing director, David Mullins, has attempted to calm anxious customers, saying that, 'We want to reiterate that any payment card information that has been taken was encrypted and has long since expired. Customers that use the same password across other websites and services should change their passwords as well.
Six Family Members Swept Away in Van Feared Dead
The news station reported that the van's driver, the children's great-uncle, was able to escape and cling onto a tree branch. The children were identified as students at Pasadena ISD in a statement made by the district on Monday night.
"We take the protection of customer data extremely seriously and have always had a robust security programme in place which we continually reviewed and updated to meet the latest online threats", CeX added.
"It's surprising that Cex still stored customer card details prior to 2009", said Javvad Malik from security firm AlienVault.
Cex has urged customers to change their password, especially if they reuse it for other websites. "We ceased storing customer card details in 2009".
