Mystery over woman's death on cruise ship Emerald Princess

"Last night there was an announcement asking for security and medical staff", Amy Joseph, a passenger aboard the Emerald Princess, exclusively told Radar about the message made over the ship's loudspeakers. In December 2014, one crew member and two contractors were killed when a massive fire broke out on Oceania Cruises' ship called Insignia. Other passengers were able to move about the ship, but not disembark.

The Emerald Princess was on a seven-day round-trip cruise that departed Seattle on Sunday, according to the cruise line.

The death on Tuesday night triggered a lockdown of the 3,400-passenger ship. Shortly after, screams echoed through the hallways of the Emerald Princess.

A criminal complaint by an Federal Bureau of Investigation special agent says Kenneth Manzanares was found in the couple's room on the Emerald Princess on Tuesday night with blood on his hands and clothes and blood spread throughout the cabin. As it was an open investigation at the time of the request, she said, she was unable to give any more details than that.

According to Princess Cruises, the ship has the authority to detain guests who are suspected of committing crimes. Most were wearing white and gray hooded sweat shirts, with the hoods and umbrellas obscuring their faces.

"The groups were taken to vehicles with dark-tinted windows waiting in a restricted area of the port, and the people were whisked away".

Princess Cruises confirmed "conversations" were taking place to decide whether the passengers will be compensated.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and all those impacted by this tragic event", Princess Cruises also said in a statement, ABC News reported.

One passenger tweeted "very frightening being on the Emerald right now - people are upset and don't know what to do". "They said it was a domestic altercation".
